Conquer Low Self Esteem With Hypnotherapy

Everyone was born with confidence and self esteem. Feeling good about ourself is the way we were born to be. It’s really our natural state.

As children, however, we can pass through experiences that either solidify this innate sense of self-esteem, strengthening our self-belief, or we may pass through experiences that in some way lessen and diminish it. Children, after all, are not in the most robust of positions, simply because in childhood the power balance is so unequal. Adults have the power to tell us what is right and wrong, whether we are good or bad. They have the power to make us feel safe or afraid, joyful or sad.

The experiences of our early, formative years can have a direct effect on how we perceive ourselves now. This is what either strengthens or weakens our self-esteem, writing the script that we follow even when we are fully grown.

When our self-esteem is high then it feels good to be alive and the world feels like a great place to be. We live in harmony with our self and our environment and our positive attitude ensures a wonderful resilience, allowing us to meet life on life’s terms and to roll with life’s punches. Our self-esteem allows us to set goals and to attain them through persistence. As Henry Ford famously said: ‘Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t – you’re right!’ We have the ability to adjust ourselves automatically when things go out of hand. Regardless of whether everyone agrees with us or not, when we have high self esteem we are able to feel good about ourselves, even with those who do not share the same opinion. With high self-esteem, we feel personally empowered to bring about positive change. It feels like there is no ceiling, that the sky’s the limit – and it usually is.

But when we lack self-esteem, or when our self-esteem has in some way been damaged or diminished, then life presents a very different picture indeed. Everyday feels like a tough struggle when we lack self esteem, everything we do feels like a hard chore. LIving our life in this way is difficult, as we seem to view almost everything through the filter of negativity. The people we meet so often seem to be asking too much of us or else letting us down, and sometimes we worry that sooner or later those we care about and have come to depend upon might really see us for what we are and reject or abandon us for something or someone better. It can be very hard going indeed to live like this. When we feel powerless because of low self esteem, then we can easily adopt the role of victim, just struggling on under the heaviest of clouds..

Perhaps the most important thing to remember if you are suffering from low self-esteem is that this is not your natural state and that you can change. There is no doubt that your feelings of self doubt and self critical developed over the years can be changed, and your self belief can be restored.

To accomplish this it may very well be necessary to delve into your past and uncover certain of the events that were instrumental in making you doubt yourself. Essentially, you can come from a place of real self deserving once you manage to reassess some of your assumed values and subconscious beliefs. There is no doubt, however, that this requires real commitment, time and energy. What could be a better way to achieve this than working with an experienced therapist whom deal with issues of low self esteem. The talking therapies – counselling and psychotherapy – may be helpful, but because these modalities employ only the conscious mind, they can be very lengthy and even after therapy the basic drivers may still remain uncovered at the subconscious level, and so left untreated.

When using such recordings, though, be sure to listen time and time again, since the more you listen the greater the effect will be. It’s best to listen every other day, though every day is also fine, for the first month, and then listen once or twice weekly until you notice a change in the way you’re responding to life.
